ImageJust last week, 16 students from Western Kentucky University's new Chinese Flagship Program arrived in China. The Winter Language Practicum at Nankai is a four week language immersion program which focuses on language, art, and culture classes as well as site visits.   The students are part of the first class of students in Western Kentucky’s new program. The establishment of the WKU’s Flagship marks the culmination of years of effort and relationship building in China and demonstrates the University’s commitment to redefining the paradigm in language training.

In celebration of the establishment of WKU’s Chinese Flagship, WKU President Dr. Gary A. Ransdell will be visiting China January 14-21.  In addition to a stop in Beijing, Dr. Ransdell will be traveling with Dr. Wei-ping Pan, Director of WKU's Institute for Combustion Science and Environmental Technology, to other parts of China.

Western Kentucky alumni are cordially invited to a lunch reception, hosted by Dr. Ransdell, to honor and recognize alumni, friends, and partnership of Western Kentucky University.  The reception will take place on Saturday, 16 January 2010, from 12PM to 2PM at the Grand Hyatt in Beijing.  Interested WKU alumni must RSVP to Dr. Liping Chen: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
