October culminated several years of preparations in Kentucky's effort to stage the first-ever Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games outside of Europe, which took place in the world-famous Kentucky Horse Park. The facility is the only park dedicated to man's relationship to the horse and proved to be the perfect site to host visitors from more than 60 countries. The competition lasted 2 weeks and included 8 different events including: dressage, jumping, eventing, driving, reining, endurance, vaulting and for the first time para-dressage. China was represented for the first time in the World Equestrian Games by female vaulter, Ling Yang. The Kentucky China Trade Center organized a delegation of 34, led by Chinese Equestrian Chairman Pan Zhichen. The delegation included competition volunteers, horse farm owners and equestrian enthusiasts all looking to experience the highest level in equestrian sports in the "Horse Capital of the World". As the horse emerges in China as a form of entertainment for the economically successful, Kentucky is in a position to build relationships which will impact Kentucky's economy now and into the future.
